You'll find this wee distillery tucked away near Drumnadrochit, and the moment you walk in, you realise scale here is entirely the point. Great Glen Distillery is genuinely tiny - we're talking a proper craft operation where the whole process happens in what feels like a converted shed, and that's precisely why it works. The owners are hands-on, the whisky is made in small batches, and you can actually see everything from grain to bottle without needing a map.

The tour gives you the real deal: no corporate spiel, just someone who knows their craft explaining how they've squeezed a full distillery into Highland space. You'll see the copper stills (compact but serious), learn about their production runs, and taste what they've actually made. It's interactive enough that you don't feel rushed through, but intimate enough that you're not one of two hundred people that day.

This appeals most to whisky enthusiasts and anyone after something genuine rather than the theme-park versions of bigger distilleries. Families with older kids who appreciate hands-on experiences will enjoy it too, though younger children might find it a bit niche. Expect to spend 90 minutes or so.
