Great Ellingham Baptist Church

A modest red-brick chapel standing quietly on the edge of Great Ellingham, just outside Attleborough. The Baptist Church is one of those places that reveals itself slowly - nothing grand or showy, but genuinely moving if you appreciate honest Victorian architecture and the stories baked into rural Norfolk.

The interior is spare and dignified: wooden pews, high ceilings, and that particular light that only comes through older stained glass. There's a real sense of continuity here - generations of Norfolk farming families have worshipped in this building, and you feel it.

It's genuinely free to visit, though the doors aren't always open, so timing matters. Ring ahead if you can, or try Sunday mornings. Allow thirty minutes, maybe an hour if you're the sort who sits quietly and absorbs atmosphere. Kids will find it dull unless they're already interested in churches - there's no interactive stuff here, which is rather the point.

This works well as a gentle detour between the glamping sites dotted around the area. Glamp & Tipple is barely a mile away, and Wild With Nature sits just two and a half miles off, making it easy to slot in while you're based nearby. If you're doing a broader Norfolk church trail, it's worth the stop. If you're after five-star attractions and entertainment, skip it.
