The Grantham Squash Club sits quietly in the heart of Lincolnshire's market town, a proper working sports facility rather than a tourist attraction in the traditional sense. It's a place for people who actually play squash - serious about the game or just after a decent workout and a bit of social club atmosphere.

You won't find much in the way of spectating here, which is fine. The courts are well-maintained, the membership appears friendly, and if you're staying in the area and fancy a game, it's exactly the sort of local spot worth tracking down. There's no pretence to it. It does what it sets out to do.

If you're based at nearby Wagtail Country Park for a few days and you're a squash player, ringing ahead to see if they do casual memberships or court hire makes sense. Most squash clubs are reasonably welcoming to visitors. For non-players, though, there's not much reason to make the journey specifically. It's not a spectator sport in this context, and frankly, watching others play squash through glass walls gets dull quite quickly.

Grantham itself is a working town with decent high street shops and decent pubs - the kind of place where locals actually live and work rather than somewhere geared entirely towards visitors. The squash club fits that character perfectly. If you're passing through and you've got a racket in the boot, worth a phone call. Otherwise, save your time for Wagtail Country Park's own facilities.
