Grafton Clump

The walk up Grafton Clump rewards you with one of those wide, uncluttered views across the Wiltshire downs that makes you understand why people settled here centuries ago. It's not dramatic - no jagged peaks or vertiginous drops - but there's something proper satisfying about standing on this modest rise with the landscape rolling away in every direction.

The clump itself is a copse of beech and yew, dense enough to feel like you're walking through something ancient, which frankly you are.
