Goosnargh Dog Field

The Dog Field at Goosnargh is exactly what it sounds like - a proper green space where locals let their dogs off the lead to burn off energy. It's a straightforward spot just outside Preston, nothing fancy, but genuinely useful if you're staying at one of the nearby parks like Wigwam Holidays Kidsnape Farm and need somewhere for the hound to have a decent run around.

There's not much ceremony to it. You'll find open grassland, the kind of place where dogs of all sizes seem to get on fine together. On a decent day, it's pleasant enough to stand about while your pet charges around. It's free, obviously, and you can turn up whenever suits you.

Worth a stop if you've got a dog in tow. If you haven't, you'll be standing in a field watching other people's dogs, which loses its appeal fairly quickly. Parents with young kids might find it handy as a quick break during a park holiday - Beacon Fell View is only three miles away, and there's enough room for children to play alongside the dogs without anyone getting wound up.

Don't expect facilities beyond the grass itself. No café, no facilities building, just the open field. It's the sort of place you pop into for twenty minutes while moving between other attractions in Lancashire, not a destination in its own right. Still, if your caravan is nearby and Fido needs a proper sprint, you could do worse.
