The reserve itself isn't enormous, but that's rather the point. You can cover the main paths in an hour or so, though spending longer here pays off if you're into birds or insects. Spring and early summer are when it really comes alive. If you're staying at any of the caravan parks within five miles - The Paddocks, Holly Farm, or Fortway Farm - this becomes an obvious addition to your itinerary. It breaks up the fishing and leisure time without requiring a drive into Leicester proper.
