Giraffe Enclosure

The giraffes at Doncaster's zoo are the sort of thing that stops you dead. You round a corner and there they are - these absurdly tall creatures munching leaves from high platforms, their long necks at angles that shouldn't be possible. It's genuinely impressive, especially if you've got kids in tow who'll spend a solid twenty minutes just watching them eat.

This is proper giraffe-watching territory. You get close enough to see the pattern on their coats properly, watch them move that elegant, deliberate way they do. It's not a quick five-minute job either - allow a good hour if you want to sit and really observe them rather than just tick it off. The enclosure itself is well-maintained, and staff tend to be around if you've got questions.

It works well as part of a wider zoo day rather than a solo pilgrimage. If you're staying at Bawtry Caravan Park just outside Doncaster - roughly 3.7 miles away - or any of the other parks in the area like Sunnyview or Mooreacres, this slots in nicely without feeling like a detour. The nearest town, Doncaster, has plenty of other bits to see, so you're not trapped here if the giraffes have done their job in an afternoon.

Kids will absolutely get it. Adults who like animals will too. It's the kind of thing that justifies a zoo visit on its own.
