Gaymers Park and Outdoor Fitness Gym

The park itself is genuinely pleasant - woodland paths wind through decent-sized grounds, and the fitness setup means you can do a full circuit without needing a gym membership or a drive into town. Pull-up bars, parallel bars, step platforms scattered about in sensible spots. Free to use, and you won't feel like you're being watched by a personal trainer barking at you.

Walkers will find enough here for a decent two-hour amble. The reserve has a proper ecological focus, so if you're into spotting birds or just wanting a bit of greenery between Norwich visits, it delivers. Families with restless teenagers who need to burn off energy rather than mope around a visitor centre will appreciate the fitness equipment angle - makes the whole outing feel less like forced marching.

Timing matters. Weekday mornings are considerably quieter than weekends when the fitness crowd turns up in force. Spring and early summer are best, when the reserve actually looks like something rather than a damp Norfolk woodland. There's no café on site, so pack refreshments.
