Front Wood is a proper woodland walk that sits just outside Heathfield, offering the kind of forest ramble that feels genuinely tucked away without requiring a full expedition. The trees are dense enough to make you forget you're in Sussex, and there's a decent network of paths that wind through the canopy without feeling overmanicured.

It's ideal for families with primary-aged kids who want to burn off some energy, or for anyone needing a couple of hours of actual quiet. There's something about the density of the trees here that just swallows sound.
