Fourwalls is a contemporary art gallery tucked away in Leicestershire, just outside Melton Mowbray - the sort of place you'd miss entirely if someone hadn't tipped you off. It's a working studio and exhibition space that takes its role seriously, showing emerging and established artists across painting, sculpture, and mixed media. The kind of gallery where the work actually makes you stop and look, rather than drift through making polite noises.

If you're the sort who genuinely engages with contemporary art rather than just photographing it for Instagram, this is worth your time. The space has an intimate feel - no crowds, no queues, just you and the work. You're looking at a couple of hours maximum, but that's the point. Quality over quantity.

What makes it particularly useful for a park holiday is its proximity to Eye Kettleby Lakes and The Grange Camping and Caravan Park, both within a mile or so. If you've parked yourselves somewhere in the Melton Mowbray area for a few days, this breaks up the outdoor routine nicely. Kids will tolerate it if they're into art; they'll be bored otherwise. Bring adults who actually want to be there.
