Fosse Meadows covers proper acreage - meadows, woodland, and water features that genuinely feel removed from the city sprawl, even though you're only minutes away. The park is free to access, which means families can pitch up without worrying about entry fees, and you can easily spend two to three hours here without feeling rushed.
Walkers will find the paths manageable, though they can be muddy after rain. The water features are the main draw - there are fishing spots if that's your thing, and the riverside stretches are genuinely pleasant for a wander. Kids won't find theme park thrills here, but they get space to run around and explore nature, which is often exactly what they need after weeks indoors.
If you're basing yourself at one of the nearby holiday parks - Fortway Farm is closest at just over two miles away - this becomes your go-to for morning walks and afternoon breaks.
