Forth Road Bridge

The Forth Road Bridge is one of those landmarks that stops you in your tracks the moment you clap eyes on it. It's free to cross on foot, though expect to share the experience with plenty of other visitors and cyclists, particularly at weekends. Allow 30 minutes for a decent stroll, longer if you're stopping for photos. The bridge itself isn't a destination you'd spend hours at - it's more about the walk and the views than lingering at either end - but it's absolutely worth doing.
