Flowerfield Arts Centre

The converted Victorian schoolhouse on the edge of Bushmills is what Flowerfield is - a proper working arts centre that punches well above its weight for a small village venue. You'll find exhibition spaces showing local and touring contemporary work, studios where you can sometimes catch artists in action, and a decent cafe that doesn't pretend to be more than it is. The building itself is the real draw. High ceilings, tall sash windows, that particular light you only get in older Irish buildings - it makes the art look better than it probably should.

Crafts people and visual artists get the most from a visit. Families won't have a terrible time but it's not the sort of place kids drag you back to. The exhibitions change, so there's no point rushing - give yourself forty minutes to an hour, longer if you actually like what's on. Check their schedule online before you go; sometimes there's live music or workshops worth timing your trip around.

It works well as a stop between Bushmills village itself and the Giant's Causeway. If you're staying at Causeway Country Pods not far away, this is a solid rainy-afternoon option or a morning spent somewhere quieter than the main coastal attractions. Admission's likely free or a couple of quid, though ringing ahead makes sense. The cafe's reason enough to visit on its own if you need a proper coffee that isn't from a tourist trap.
