The walk itself is pleasant enough, especially if you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks like Meadowbank or Sandhills. You'll find paths skirting the water, and on a quiet day it's genuinely peaceful. Birdwatchers get the most from it. Anglers too, obviously. For families with young children, it's worth an hour's outing if you're based locally, though there's nothing here to keep kids entertained for long. No facilities that I could find, so come prepared. The real value is as a breathing space during a park holiday rather than a destination in itself. Christchurch is barely two miles away if you need proper amenities or want to combine this with something more substantial. Go early morning for the best light and fewest people. Worth a detour if you're staying nearby and fancy fresh air, but don't rearrange your holiday around it.
