Fields End Woods

The woods sit just east of March, a proper Fenland setting where the trees feel like a genuine escape from the flat open country around them. You're getting woodland walks here - the kind where you can actually stretch your legs without hitting a fence or field boundary. It's not dramatic or mountainous; this is honest East Anglian woodland, darker and quieter than the exposed fens you see from the road.

Walkers will find the most value here. There's nothing demanding about it - just paths through the trees, decent for getting some air into your lungs and clearing your head for an hour or two. Families with young kids will manage it fine, though there's no play equipment or visitor facilities that I'm aware of. It's the sort of place you go to walk, not to linger with a packed lunch for the day.

If you're staying at one of the local parks - Fields End Water is basically on the doorstep, and Knightsbridge or Fenland are only a couple of miles away - this becomes a natural addition to your routine rather than a destination. Worth popping into if you're based nearby and want to break up a caravan holiday with a forest walk. Go when the light's decent and you've got a few hours to spare. Don't expect facilities or crowds. Just expect trees and quiet, which is rather the point.
