If you've got a dog and you're staying near Banbury, Field Day Dog Field is the sort of place that'll save your sanity on day three of a holiday park break. It's an off-lead space where your dog can actually run about without you having a heart attack every time they disappear behind a tree.

The field itself is straightforward - decent-sized, properly fenced, and genuinely useful if you're staying at Newton Grove or The Pig Place and your spaniel's climbing the walls. Dogs get a proper stretch, owners get to stand about with coffee and chat to other dog owners who are thinking exactly the same thing.

There's not much to write home about in terms of scenery or facilities - it's functional rather than fancy. No cafe, no playground to distract the kids while the dog runs. It's purely a dog thing. Best visited mid-morning on weekdays if you want it quieter. Weekends get rammed with the Banbury crowd. Free to use, no registration nonsense that I can find. It's the sort of spot that makes a holiday park stay with a dog actually workable rather than a battle of continuous walks and frustrated pets.

Worth the detour if you're dog-owning. Skip it otherwise.
