Feystown Church

The lane up to Feystown Church is narrow and a bit rough underfoot, which is half the charm really. You're walking through proper countryside here, a few miles outside Ballymena, and suddenly you come across this small, whitewashed church sitting quietly in the landscape. It's one of those places that doesn't shout about itself.

The church itself is modest - a simple rectangular building that's been doing its job for centuries. Inside, it's got that particular smell all old churches have: damp stone and time. The interior is sparse and straightforward, which some will find peaceful and others might find a touch austere. But there's something genuine about it. No tourist trappings, no gift shop.

You'll get the most from this if you're into quiet contemplation or local church history. It's not a major draw, and you won't spend hours here - twenty minutes tops, unless you're really keen on graveyards. The walk itself is pleasant enough, though, and it works well as part of a wider ramble around the area.

If you're staying at Ocean View Pods just down the road, this makes an easy morning stroll. Don't go out of your way specially unless you're in the area already. It's the sort of place that rewards you if you wander off the main routes, but it's not going to change your life. Still, there's value in the quiet.
