Farmorama Alpacas

You'll find yourself in a field with alpacas. Lot of them. Farmorama Alpacas is the sort of place where you can actually get close to these animals - feed them, handle them, watch them do their slightly aloof alpaca thing. They're oddly charming once you're near them, less aggressive than you'd expect, more curious.

It's family territory, really. Kids find it engaging for a solid hour or so - the novelty of hand-feeding an alpaca doesn't wear off instantly, though don't expect them to be riveted for a full afternoon. Adults who like animals will enjoy it more than those who don't. If you're the type who finds a paddock of llamas mildly amusing rather than genuinely interesting, this won't convert you.

Daventry's your nearest town, sitting just a handful of miles away, which makes this a decent half-day addition to a wider Leicestershire trip. It pairs well with the caravanning spots nearby - Manor Farm's only 5.3 miles out, and Meadow Field's luxury glamping is barely further. Perfect if you're based at either and want something low-key to fill a morning.

Practical note: I'd phone ahead before turning up, as opening hours and admission fees aren't listed anywhere obvious. Spring and early summer are better bets than winter when the animals will be less sociable. Bring a jumper even in decent weather - standing in a field watching alpacas eat gets chilly fast. Budget an hour, ninety minutes maximum if you've got young kids who move slowly.
