Eun Loch

The water at Eun Loch sits dark and still, ringed by proper Argyll woodland that gives the whole place a quiet, contemplative feel. It's a small freshwater loch near Taynuilt - nothing flashy, but genuinely peaceful if you want to escape the busier shores of Loch Awe just a few miles south.

There's a decent walk around the perimeter if you're after some leg-stretching, though don't expect dramatic vistas or marked trails like you'd find at the bigger lochs. It's the kind of spot where you'll actually hear the water lapping and birds calling rather than other tourists. Families with young kids might find it a bit dull after half an hour unless they're keen on spotting water birds or fishing - it's a decent trout spot if you've got a rod and a permit.

Walkers treating this as part of a broader Argyll loop will find it worth a detour, especially if you're based at Loch Awe Camping Pods down the road. The real value here is in the lack of crowds and the chance to sit quietly by the water with a flask. You won't need more than an hour or so, but that hour feels properly removed from things.

Getting there from Taynuilt is straightforward enough, and it slots nicely into a day exploring the wider Loch Awe area. No facilities that I'm aware of, so bring what you need. Free to visit, naturally.
