Esporta is a proper sports facility just outside Shipley in West Yorkshire, the kind of place locals pop into for a swim, gym session, or to watch their kids at badminton. It's not a tourist attraction in the traditional sense - no queues, no gift shop, no Instagram moments. What you get instead is a working leisure centre with pools, gym equipment, and various courts for anyone who wants an actual workout rather than a postcard.

If you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks - Esholt, Crook Farm, or Moor Valley Country Park are all within five miles - and your kids have gone stir-crazy after a morning at the caravan, Esporta can be a useful half-day option. The swimming pool is decent enough for younger ones, and the gym facilities mean parents can burn off some energy too. It's the sort of place that works best if you ring ahead to check what's on and what times suit your group.

This isn't a destination in itself. Come here because you're based nearby and want to break up the holiday routine, not because you've driven across the county to visit. The real attraction of the area is Moor Valley Country Park just down the road - that's where you'll find the actual scenery and space to roam. Esporta is the practical backup plan, and sometimes that's exactly what you need.
