Escrick Park Estate Dog Run

The dog run at Escrick Park Estate gives your four-legged friend proper space to burn off energy without you wrestling them on a lead for the afternoon. It's a decent-sized enclosed area where dogs can have a proper run about, and the estate grounds themselves are pleasant enough for a walk if you've got time to kill.

There's not much to it beyond that, to be honest. You're looking at a field with fencing - it does the job, and that's about it. The real appeal is that it's only six miles south of York, so if you're based somewhere like Wigwam Holidays Ball Hall Farm for a park holiday, this makes an easy detour to tire out the hound before heading into the city proper for the afternoon. The estate is free to access as far as I can gather, and there's parking available. Best visited on a dry day when the ground isn't a mudbath - the field can get quite squelchy in wet weather. Dogs with recall issues will appreciate the fencing, and older dogs might prefer the quieter grounds to the busier dog parks you'll find closer to York itself.
