The England Rugby Football Union's headquarters sits just outside Walton-on-Thames, and if you're even remotely interested in rugby, it's worth the trip. This is where the national team trains and plays international matches at Twickenham Stadium, one of the world's most important rugby grounds.

You can tour the stadium itself, which takes you through the players' tunnel, into the dressing rooms, and up into the stands - the scale of it hits you when you're actually standing on the pitch. The Rugby Museum attached to it runs through England's test history with proper artefacts and jerseys. Most people spend two to three hours here, though dedicated rugby types could easily lose a half-day.

It's brilliant for families with older kids who understand the sport, less so if you've got toddlers in tow. Teenage rugby players especially will find it genuinely inspiring. The match day experience is something else entirely if you can time it right - the atmosphere around the ground on international weekends is electric.

Admission isn't free, but stadium tours run regularly outside match days. Parking's straightforward, and Walton-on-Thames town centre is close by for a decent pub lunch beforehand. If you're staying at Walton on Thames Camping and Caravanning Club Site nearby, it's an easy drive from there. Worth factoring in if someone in your group is obsessed with rugby, though casual sports fans might find it a bit niche.
