Emans Coppice

Walk into Emans Coppice and you're straight into proper woodland - the kind of forest floor that's soft underfoot and smells of damp earth and leaf mould. It's a relatively modest patch of forest near Southampton, nothing that'll take your breath away with drama, but it's exactly the sort of place that rewards a quiet hour of wandering.

The coppice itself is managed woodland, which means you get that pleasant mix of open glades and dense tree cover. There are paths threading through, though they're not heavily signposted or manicured - this feels like a working forest rather than a tourist attraction. Families with young walkers will find it manageable, though don't expect playgrounds or facilities.
