Go-kart racing near Anstruther isn't something you'd stumble upon by accident, but if you've got a competitive streak or kids who want to actually do something on a rainy Scottish afternoon, the East of Scotland Kart Club delivers proper racing rather than bumper car nonsense. You're driving actual karts on a genuine circuit - not enormous, but it's set up for proper racing lines and overtaking, which makes a difference when you're pushing hard.

The track suits families wanting an afternoon activity and serious racers who race here regularly. Most visitors seem to be there for a session or two, perhaps two hours total including briefing and a few races. It's not free (expect entry fees for races), and you'll want to book ahead rather than turn up hoping for a slot.

What works well: the staff know what they're doing, the karts are maintained decently, and there's genuine racing happening rather than just bashing round. What's worth knowing: you'll want to be fit enough to handle a kart for a few laps - it's more physically demanding than it looks - and taller kids (or adults with long legs) sometimes struggle with the fit.

If you're staying at Sauchope Links Holiday Lodge just down the road, this is a cracking break from park life, especially if weather turns. Twenty minutes from Anstruther proper, so easy to combine with fish and chips afterwards. Not a all-day venture, but genuinely good for what it is.
