Earl's Field

Earl's Field sits just outside Salisbury and is one of those places that rewards walkers willing to get their boots muddy. The reserve works best for keen birdwatchers and anyone after a quiet countryside walk away from the Salisbury crowds. It's not dramatic - no clifftop views or ancient monuments - but that's rather the point. The wetland habitat means the ground gets boggy, especially after rain, so waterproof boots aren't optional. If you're camping at nearby Stonehenge Campsite or Salisbury Hillside, Earl's Field makes a decent morning activity before heading to bigger attractions like Stonehenge itself. It's not a day-long destination, but paired with the prehistoric sites in the area or Salisbury's cathedral close, it fills a gap nicely. Families with restless kids might find it a bit slow-paced, but patient naturalists will genuinely enjoy it.
