Dursley Sculpture and Play Trail

There's a proper trail winding through Dursley that combines art installations with play equipment - the sort of thing that keeps kids entertained without feeling like you're trudging around a museum. The sculptures are dotted along the route, and there are play spots built in so families can actually stop and let children burn off energy rather than just walk past things.

This works best for families with younger kids who get restless on standard walks. Walkers will find it pleasant enough as a short circuit around town, though it's not a challenging hike - more of a gentle amble with things to look at. If you're after serious countryside rambling, you'd be better off heading to the edges of the Cotswolds nearby.

It's free to access, which is the main draw. You can probably cover the whole thing in an hour or so, depending on how long the kids linger at the play bits. The real advantage is timing - pop down from your caravan in the morning, do the trail, grab lunch in town, and still have the afternoon free for elsewhere. If you're based at Pepper Pot Caravan Park or The Riverside at The George Inn, both only a few miles away, this makes an easy first-day outing when everyone's still settling in.

January through March tends to be quieter if you prefer fewer families around. Worth the detour if you're in Dursley anyway, but don't plan a whole day around it.
