Dundonald Church sits quietly in south London, a Victorian-era place of worship that most visitors hurry past without noticing. The building itself is handsome enough - red brick with proper Gothic touches - but what matters here is the interior. The stained glass is genuinely worth stopping for, and the atmosphere inside feels genuine rather than polished for tourists.

History buffs will appreciate the period detail: this is proper 1870s London, before the area became swallowed up by suburbs and shopping centres. The churchyard offers a rare pocket of calm if you're staying nearby, though frankly you won't linger for hours. Most people spend twenty to thirty minutes looking round before heading on.

It's free to visit, though hours aren't always consistent - standard church opening times apply, so don't assume it's open midweek. This works well as a stop if you're already in the area, particularly if you're combining it with Chessington World of Adventures Resort just up the road. After the theme park mayhem, the quiet of the church actually feels like a relief.
