Duck Pond

The Duck Pond sits right on Antrim's doorstep, a modest stretch of water that's genuinely lovely for a wander if you're staying at one of the nearby caravan parks. It's the sort of place where you can actually spot ducks - hence the name - and there's something quite peaceful about watching them paddle about, especially if you've got young kids in tow.

There's a decent walking path around it, nothing strenuous, which makes it ideal for families who want to stretch their legs without a full hike. The water's calm, the setting's green and quiet, and it won't take you more than an hour to do a proper circuit. You might see herons if you're lucky. On a decent day it's genuinely pleasant; on a grey one it's just a bit flat.

If you're camped at Blair's Castlewood or Six Mile Water - both rated 4.6 out of 5 - this is practically on your doorstep. It's free to access and there are no annoying opening hours to worry about. Worth a visit before heading into Antrim town itself, but don't expect it to be the highlight of your holiday. It's more of a "while we're in the area" sort of spot. Good for burning off ten minutes and fresh air rather than a destination in itself.
