Dromore Town Park

The walk through Dromore Town Park is a proper tonic if you're staying anywhere near Hillsborough. It's a nature reserve that does exactly what it says on the tin - gives you woodland paths, open grassland, and enough green space to shake off a caravan-bound afternoon without needing to drive somewhere dramatic.

The park sits right on the edge of Dromore itself, so you can wander in straight from the town centre without faffing about with car parks or gates. Paths are well-trodden and mostly flat, which means families with younger kids won't spend the whole time listening to complaints about muddy boots. The reserve has actual wildlife too - you'll spot birds without needing binoculars if you're lucky, and the trees are genuinely lovely when they're not dripping.

Really, this is the sort of place you'd spend an hour doing a loop, maybe ninety minutes if you dawdle and let the kids climb on fallen logs. It's free, which is always welcome, and it connects nicely with a park holiday based at Lakeside View Caravan Park just down the road. If you're after something to fill the gap between breakfast and lunch without heading off-site, it's worth knowing about. Not a destination in itself, but a genuine relief from caravanning sameness.
