Donington Park Circuit

This is proper racing territory - a circuit where real drivers have pushed real machines to their limits since 1931, and you can feel that history the moment you arrive. The track itself is a 2.2-mile loop through Derbyshire countryside, fast and challenging in equal measure, with sweeping corners that demand respect.

What you actually do here depends on what's on. Race days are the thing - watching everything from touring cars to historic single-seaters tearing past is genuinely thrilling, even if you're not a petrolhead. The speed catches you off guard every time. Outside of events, guided tours sometimes run, giving you a chance to walk sections of the track and peek into the museum, though this varies seasonally so worth checking ahead.

It's unmissable if you've got someone obsessed with motorsport in the family. Kids who love cars will be wide-eyed. Less so if you're looking for a quiet day out - there's not much to do when nothing's racing, and it's a bit exposed and windswept between events. Derby's close by, which is handy for supplies.

Staying nearby works well. Field of Dreams Glamping is just 1.8 miles away, giving you a comfortable base, or you could try Hill Farm Camping a touch further out. Either way, you're positioned to catch a race day and still have time to explore the wider area properly.
