Dinos vs Boats

Head down to Seaton's seafront and you'll spot what looks like a giant battle frozen mid-combat - a collection of life-sized dinosaur sculptures facing off against boat installations along the shingle beach. It's the sort of thing that stops you mid-walk and makes you do a double-take. The dinosaurs are bright, unmissable, and genuinely daft in the best way possible.

Kids absolutely love it. There's something about oversized T-Rexes and fibreglass creatures that makes the under-tens want to clamber about and take photos. Adults tend to either find it charming or a bit kitsch - fair's fair. You can walk right up to them, touch them, pose with them. It costs nothing and takes about twenty minutes to have a proper look around, though families often spend longer with children wanting to examine each dinosaur in detail.

The real draw is that it breaks up a coastal walk nicely. Seaton itself is a proper little seaside town with a decent shingle beach and the Seaton Tramway running alongside. If you're staying at Beer Head Holiday Park just down the road, this makes an easy morning stroll. Oakdown, a few miles inland, is better positioned for exploring wider Devon, but it's still within reach for an afternoon visit.

Worth the detour? If you've got kids under ten, absolutely. For teenagers or adults without small children, it's more of a curiosity stop than a destination. The seafront walk itself is lovely though, so you're not losing anything by popping by.
