Diglis Island sits right on the River Severn just south of Worcester, and it's where things actually happen in the summer months. The venue hosts live music events, food festivals, and the occasional beer garden setup - think proper outdoor entertainment rather than a quiet beauty spot. You're standing on an actual island with the river on both sides, which gives the whole thing a bit of theatre.

What makes it work is the setting itself. The Severn curves round it nicely, and on a decent day you get that rare thing in the Midlands: actual riverside character. Events vary wildly depending on when you visit - could be a jazz night, could be a street food market, could be nothing at all. Worth checking ahead because it's not like there's a permanent attraction here; it lives and dies by its calendar.

Families with older kids will get more from the events when they're on. Younger children might find an empty island less thrilling. Walkers using the Severn Valley Way will pass by regularly - it makes a natural stopping point on the route.

Staying nearby, Peachley Caravan and Camping Park is only 3.7 miles out, or Mill House if you fancy something with boatyard facilities. The island's free to access when nothing's scheduled, though ticketed events will cost you. Summer's obviously prime time. Give yourself an hour if an event's on, less if you're just passing through on a longer riverside walk.
