Daily Dog Digs

A quirky Sussex landmark that's part archaeological dig, part community project, Daily Dog Digs sits just outside Dorking and operates on a refreshingly informal basis. The site is essentially a working excavation where volunteers and visitors can watch - or occasionally pitch in - as teams unearth finds from the local area. It's less polished heritage centre, more genuine curiosity shop with mud on its boots.

What you actually get is a chance to see archaeology happening in real time rather than behind glass in a museum.
