Crouch Gardens

The gardens at Crouch sit just outside Newhaven, a proper spot for a wander if you're staying nearby. They're not grand or formal - more of a local green space where Sussex folk come to escape the bustle of the town centre. You'll find yourself on decent paths through planted areas, with bits of woodland that feel peaceful without being pretentious about it.

It's the sort of place that works well for families with younger children who want to run about without you worrying too much, or for older walkers breaking up a coastal trip. Nothing strenuous, nothing that requires more than an hour or so unless you're really taking your time. The space itself is manageable - you won't get lost, and there's enough greenery to feel removed from town even though houses back onto parts of it.

If you're staying at Three Ponds Holiday Park just down the road, this makes a solid morning or afternoon leg-stretch before heading into Newhaven proper or pushing along the coast. It's not the sort of place that'll blow your mind, but that's rather the point. Sometimes a garden is just a garden - a quiet bit of Sussex where you can breathe and let the kids burn off some energy. Worth knowing it exists, especially if weather rules out the seafront for a spell.
