About Creag Bhreac
On a clear day the views across the Tay Valley are genuinely worth the sweat. You get proper 360-degree panoramas of the surrounding hills and glens, which is no small thing when you're standing at barely 650 metres. The route is straightforward enough - paths are well-trodden and the terrain won't catch you out - but it's still a workout. Allow a good three to four hours there and back if you want to take your time at the top.
Families with older kids will manage this fine. Younger ones might struggle with the climb, though the reward of being on a proper mountaintop tends to spur them on. The real bonus is how close it is to Pitlochry itself - you can knock this off on a morning and still have time for a pub lunch afterwards. It's free access, obviously, and you can tackle it pretty much any time of year, though winter requires a bit more caution underfoot.
