Coronation Garden

Walk through the gates of Coronation Garden in Beverley and you're stepping into a bit of local pride. This public garden was created to mark the 1953 coronation - hence the name - and it's the sort of place that feels genuinely loved by the town rather than polished for tourists.

You'll find mature trees, flower beds that change with the seasons, and a few benches where locals actually sit reading the paper rather than rushing through. It's compact enough that you won't need more than thirty minutes here, but long enough to catch your breath if you're walking round Beverley's town centre. The garden does the job it sets out to do - offers a patch of greenery without any fuss.

Historians might enjoy the coronation connection, but honestly this isn't the sort of place that'll keep you for hours. It works best as a quiet pause during a bigger Beverley visit - pop in after seeing the Minister or grabbing lunch. Kids will find it pleasant rather than thrilling unless they're into spotting birds.

If you're based at Butt Farm Caravan just down the road (1.7 miles away), it's an easy walk into town and the garden makes a gentle first stop. The High Farm Holiday Park site is a touch further out but still convenient for a morning stroll before heading elsewhere. Cherry Burton Leisure Park is another reasonable option if you want somewhere to base yourself while exploring this part of East Yorkshire. The garden's free, obviously, and there are no fiddly opening hours to worry about - it's public land.
