Constitution Hill

The walk up Constitution Hill from Aberystwyth town centre takes about twenty minutes if you're reasonably fit, though the final stretch is genuinely steep. What makes it worth the effort is the view across Cardigan Bay - on a clear day you can see all the way down the Cambrian coast, and the town below looks properly small from up here.

At the top there's a Victorian cliff railway (the Aberystwyth Cliff Railway) that'll bring you down if your knees aren't up for it, though that costs extra. The peak itself isn't wildly dramatic - it's a working hill with a few structures on it - but the panorama justifies the climb. Families with younger kids might find the path a bit relentless, though older ones who like a proper walk will get something out of it.

It's free to access and you can do the whole thing in an hour including time to catch your breath at the top. Go on a morning if possible, before the town gets busy and while the light's clean across the bay. The walk is year-round, though winter winds can be sharp up there.
