East of Cambridge, Coleridge Recreation Ground offers a straightforward patch of green space that does exactly what it says on the tin - provides a decent walk and a bit of breathing room without any pretension. Families with young kids will find it manageable for an hour or so, though there's no visitor centre or facilities that I can spot - come prepared. Birdwatchers and anyone interested in local ecology will appreciate what's on offer here, especially during spring and autumn migrations.

If you're camped at Cherry Hinton just 1.3 miles away, or any of the other sites ringing Cambridge, this is a useful spot for stretching your legs between days out. It pairs well with a broader Cambridge exploration - the Backs, the colleges, the Botanic Garden - though on its own, Coleridge Recreation Ground is more functional than a destination. Worth the detour if you're already in the area. On a wet Tuesday in November? Probably give it a miss.
