Clipston Recreation Ground

The fields around Clipston, just south of Market Harborough, don't announce themselves with fanfare. What you get here is straightforward countryside - open grassland and scrub that's been left to its own devices, which is precisely why it matters. This is a proper nature reserve, the kind of place where you might spot skylarks in summer or watch rabbits work the long grass without a theme park atmosphere in sight.

It's ideal for families who actually want their kids to learn something rather than just burn off energy on playground equipment. Walkers will appreciate the flat terrain and lack of crowds - you won't be jostling for space on a Sunday afternoon. Bird watchers and wildflower enthusiasts will find genuine interest here, especially in spring and early summer when the variety picks up.
