About CinderFest
It's not a manicured country estate, which is rather the point. The terrain is rough and uneven - proper walking boots worthwhile here - and the views across the Ironbridge Gorge are frankly excellent. On a clear day you can see for miles across Shropshire. Families with older kids who don't mind a bit of scrambling will find it absorbing; younger children might struggle with the uneven ground. History buffs will absolutely rate this place, especially if they're already visiting the Ironbridge heritage sites just down the road.
Allow a couple of hours to do it justice, though you could dash round in forty-five minutes if you're pressed. The reserve is free to access, which feels important given it's essentially a working landscape restoration project. Best visited in spring when the wildflowers are out, or early morning when you've got the place to yourself.
Stay at Sytche Caravan & Camping Park, only four miles away, and you've got the whole Gorge on your doorstep - CinderFest pairs well with the museums and heritage walks nearby.
