Church of St. Mary - Kippington

The Church of St. Mary sits quietly on the edge of Kippington, a proper medieval affair that you'd walk past without noticing if you weren't looking for it. It's the sort of place where locals pop in for five minutes on their way to the shops, but the building itself tells a much longer story - all those centuries compressed into stone and timber.

Inside, there's genuine medieval work worth stopping for: the chancel's from the 14th century, and you can see where repairs and rebuilds have happened over the decades. It's not flashy, which is partly the appeal. No guides, no gift shop, just the thing itself.

If you're staying at Thriftwood Country Park - a solid base six miles away near Edenbridge - this works as a gentle half-hour detour. Park walkers heading out from the holiday park who fancy a spot of local history will find it worthwhile, though don't expect to spend hours here. The churchyard's worth a wander if the weather's decent.

Access is straightforward from Edenbridge itself, making it an easy slot into a broader Kent walking route. Leave plenty of time if you want to read the memorials - there's proper village history embedded in those stones. Best visited on a weekday morning when you've got the place to yourself.
