Church Hill

Standing at just over 300 metres, this modest Shropshire summit won't test serious fell walkers but delivers surprisingly good views across the Severn Valley. Church Hill sits quietly between Kidderminster and the Welsh borders, offering a proper countryside walk without the crowds you'll find on more famous peaks. The climb itself takes about 45 minutes from the nearest parking spot - it's steep enough to get your heart rate up but manageable for most families with older children.

From the top, you can see right across to the Malvern Hills on a clear day, with the Severn snaking through the valley below. The wooded slopes make it lovely in autumn when the leaves turn, though summer can feel a bit enclosed until you reach the summit clearing. Younger kids might get restless on the way up - there's not much to distract them beyond typical woodland.

Walking enthusiasts staying at nearby holiday parks like Lodge Coppice or Little Lakes will find this makes a decent half-day excursion.
