Chatteris Library

The library sits on a quiet street in March, a proper working branch that serves the town well rather than a destination in itself. Inside you'll find the usual mix of books, computers, and reading space - nothing fancy, nothing that'll make you travel far out of your way. What saves it from being just another municipal building is that it's genuinely useful if you're based at Fenland Camping and Caravan Park and fancy getting out of the weather for an hour or so.

It's free to use and does what a library should: stocks a decent local interest section, has decent Wi-Fi if yours drops out at the caravan, and the staff are helpful. Kids might enjoy the children's corner for twenty minutes, adults can grab a book or sit with a coffee. The actual building is nothing special - modern, functional, a bit worn round the edges like most libraries outside major cities.

Honestly? Only visit if you're staying nearby and have a specific reason - looking for a local history book about the Fens, killing time on a rainy Tuesday, or needing to charge a device. It's not worth a special trip from the campsite, and there's far more interesting ground to cover in the surrounding countryside. But as a fallback on a dreich afternoon, it does the job.
