You get a proper working farm setup - animals to feed and handle, the usual playground equipment, and enough space that children can actually run about without you losing your mind. The adventure playground side of things means climbing frames, slides, and the sort of stuff that burns off energy for a solid couple of hours.

It's geared squarely at families with young children rather than teenagers or serious hikers. School holidays and weekends get rammed, so go on a weekday morning if you can manage it. The whole visit easily takes two to three hours if you're not rushed. You'll want to check current opening hours and admission prices before heading over - these things change seasonally and sometimes close for weather.

If you're camping at Chatsworth Park Caravan and Motorhome Club just down the road, this is virtually on your doorstep and worth a morning visit. It complements a broader Peak District family holiday nicely, though you'd want to pair it with proper walks or visits to Chatsworth House itself to keep adults entertained. Lambs Glamping and Peak Pods are also within striking distance, so it's accessible from most of the local accommodation. Fair warning: it's not pretentious, and the facilities are basic - this is a working farm, not a theme park.
