Walk into Centauro at Canary Wharf and you're confronted with a bronze horse mid-stride - all muscle and movement, somehow both monumental and intimate in scale. It's the kind of sculpture that stops you, makes you actually look, rather than just walk past on your way to the tube.

The gallery sits within Canary Wharf's public art collection, which means you can see it for free as part of the wider estate. There's no admission fee, no opening hours to worry about - you just turn up. That's proper useful if you're already in the area for shopping or business. The sculpture itself is the real draw: it's powerful and beautifully cast, the sort of thing that rewards standing still for five minutes rather than a quick phone snap.

If you're staying at Abbey Wood Experience Freedom Glamping about six miles south, it's worth the quick trip into the city. You could combine it with wandering Canary Wharf's other public installations - there are several dotted around the plaza, and the waterfront walk is decent enough on a clear day. Don't expect a full afternoon here though. Twenty minutes tops, unless you're really into contemporary sculpture.

Historians and art types will appreciate it more than families with restless kids. The setting is a bit corporate, all glass towers and manicured lawns, which takes some of the edge off the art. Still, it's free, accessible, and the horse is genuinely worth seeing.
