Castle Stewart

Castle Stewart sits a few miles outside Newton Stewart, a proper ruin that demands a decent walk to reach it. What you find at the end is a substantial stone tower house from the 15th century, substantial enough to feel like you've earned the effort getting there. The castle itself is roofless now, but the walls stand tall enough that you can still sense the defensive strength it once commanded. Inside, narrow stone staircases spiral upward through darkness, and the views across the Galloway landscape from the upper levels are genuinely worth the climb.
