Car Park

A car park in Leicestershire sounds like the sort of thing you'd skip without thinking twice, and honestly, most days you'd be right. But this particular patch near Nuneaton has become something of a footnote in British pop culture - it's where the famous scene from a well-known film was shot, and that's enough to draw the odd curious visitor.

What you're actually looking at is tarmac and lines. There's no visitor centre, no interpretation boards, no café selling overpriced sandwiches. You turn up, you take a photo if you're that way inclined, and then you leave. It takes five minutes, maybe ten if you're being thorough.

The real question is whether it's worth the detour. If you're already in the area staying at one of the nearby sites - Fire & Stars Woodland Camping is just under three miles away, or Bosworth Lakeside Lodges at five miles if you want something more upmarket - then fine, pop by on the way to somewhere better. But it's not a destination in itself. You won't get hours out of it, and kids will absolutely lose patience after the Instagram moment.

It works as a curiosity stop between proper attractions, a 'remember that film?' sort of waypoint. Free obviously, open whenever, requires nothing but a car and low expectations. Use it as an excuse to get out of the vehicle for five minutes while plotting your route to somewhere with actual things to do.
