Brotheridge Green Nature Reserve

Walking into Brotheridge Green feels like stepping off the main road into somewhere locals actually use rather than somewhere tour coaches visit. It's a proper nature reserve just outside Worcester, the kind of place where you'll spot common woodland birds, small mammals, and seasonal wildflowers rather than anything exotic - but that's rather the point.

The reserve itself is modest in scale, which means you won't need a full day here. Most visitors spend an hour or so on the paths, particularly if you've got kids keen on spotting wildlife or older walkers who appreciate a gentle amble through genuine countryside. Spring and early summer bring the best flora, though the whole year has something worth seeing if you're patient enough to stand still.

Access appears to be free, which makes it a decent addition to a longer day if you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks - Oakmere is barely over a mile away, and Swallowfields Retreat less than two and a half. Neither Brotheridge nor the surrounding area demands you plan a dedicated trip, but if you're based at a caravan site nearby and want to stretch your legs without going far, it does the job without fuss.

The real value is in combining it with walks along the Severn or a proper exploring day of Worcester itself. Expect woodland paths, muddy after rain, and no facilities to speak of. It's functional rather than flashy - which is exactly what a local nature reserve should be.
