Broomhill Spinney

A decent woodland walk just outside Banbury, Broomhill Spinney is the sort of place you'd stumble upon by accident and think: fair enough, worth twenty minutes of my time. The spinney itself is properly small - we're talking a few acres of mixed woodland with footpaths threading through beech, oak and hazel. Nothing dramatic, nothing that'll make you gasp, but it's green and quiet and does the job if you fancy stretching your legs between campsites.

Families with young kids will get bored quickly here - it's a bit too damp and overgrown in places to feel like proper adventure territory. Walkers and local dog walkers, though, seem to use it regularly enough. The paths are generally clear, though you'll want decent shoes after rain because it gets boggy.

There's no visitor infrastructure that I could pin down - no car park marked, no facilities, no admission fee as far as I can tell. Just a quiet bit of woodland. Slot it in as a quick detour if you're staying at Mount Farm Park or Fir Tree Campsite rather than making it your morning's main event. It's the sort of spot you return to if you live nearby, not one that justifies a special trip.

Go if you need fifteen minutes of forest air and don't mind a muddy walk. Skip it if you're after a proper woodland experience with trails or views. Mid-week beats weekends when local families aren't about.
