About Bordie Loch
The loch itself is fairly small, which means it lacks the drama of its more famous Scottish cousins, but that's partly the appeal. It's peaceful. Birdwatchers tend to do well here - you'll spot mallards, moorhens, and if you're lucky, herons working the shallows. The walking path is manageable for families with older kids and anyone with reasonable fitness, though it does get a bit boggy in patches after rain.
There's no admission charge that we could find, no visitor centre, no café. You turn up, park where you can near the access point, and walk. It's the kind of place that works brilliantly if you're staying at West Fife Pods nearby and want a gentle morning out before breakfast, or a wind-down stroll before dinner. Couple it with a trip into Dunfermline itself - the abbey and palace are worth a few hours - and you've got a decent half-day sorted. Worth the drive if you're in the area, but don't rearrange your holiday around it.
